UNIDENTIFIED
HUMAN REMAINS
AND THE TRUE NATURE OF LOVE
Theatre
On Consignment will continue its 2005-2006 season with “Unidentified
Human Remains and the True Nature of Love”, the controversial dark
comedy/drama by Brad Fraser. The play will run February 16 and 17 at 8pm
and February 19 at 2pm.
The play follows
the lives and relationships of a half-dozen hardened and cynical twentysomethings,
stuck in unsatisfying jobs and blindly hunting for some kind of love under
a cloud of fear created by a prowling serial killer. Dwelling
inside this barren landscape is David (Mike Bocovich), the gay child-star-turned-waiter
plowing through substitute loves, such as boy-toy Kane (Jonathan Van Clief),
in place of friend Bernie (Corey Janssens), whom he can never have. Candy
(Michele Marshall), his roommate and ex-lover, is a disengaged book reviewer
whose self-centered search for love veers wildly and recklessly, causing
pain for herself and her love interests Robert (Mark Schuster) and Jerri
(Meridith Jones). Watching over them in Prospero-like fashion from her
dark domain is macabre Benita (Renee Purtee), whose seer-like powers provide
both fantasy fulfillment and foreboding forecasts.
Brad Purkey directs,
with lighting design by David Neville and Ray Clithero, set design by
David Bailey, costume design by Renee Purtee, and props by Rebekah Rine.
Jason Bailey produces.
Performances
are at Club Tabu, located at 305 S. St. Francis. Ticket prices are $10
for general public and $7 for seniors, students, and military. For reservations,
call (316) 522-4442. The play contains adult situations and language and
is for mature audiences only.
