Theatre On
Consignment will begin its 2004-2006 season with “Hurlyburly”
by David Rabe, the stark, critically acclaimed drama from the author of
“Streamers”. The play will run September 9-11 and September
17-18 at 8pm and September 19 at 2pm in the Linesight Theatre, located
at 143 N. Rock Island on the third floor.
Rabe’s blistering script is the story of Eddie (Jason Miller), a
Hollywood casting agent whose life is spiraling out of control. His roommate
Mickey (Jason Bailey) seems to have an unhealthy interest in his girlfriend
Darlene (Amber Malott). His best friend Phil (Mac Welch) is a cauldron
of violence and hostility. His buddy Artie (Bryan Welsby) is clearly passing
him on the Hollywood food chain. Eddie’s days become an exhausting
series of altercations and conversations, all conducted through a drug-induced
haze, as he attempts to maintain a connection with reality. David Bailey
directs.
Tickets are $8 ($5 for students and seniors). Opening night seats are
“Buy one, get one free”. Seating is limited, and tickets can
be reserved by calling Theatre On Consignment’s reservation line
at 265-2226. The play contains some adult language and themes and are
for mature audiences.
