THE
GOAT
(or, Who Is Sylvia?)
Theatre
On Consignment will continue its 2005-2006 season with “The Goat
(or, Who Is Sylvia?)”, the Tony award-winning drama by American
master Edward Albee (author of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”).
The play will run April 20, 21, and 22 at 8pm and April 22 and 23 at 2pm.
The
play, which also won the New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, and
Outer Critics Circle Awards, concerns Martin (Mark Reno), a successful
architect on the brink of his 50th birthday. He's happily married to his
wife Stevie (Renee Purtee) and has a turbulent but loving relationship
with his rebellious gay son Billy (Matt Hanne). Hiding under the comforts
of domestic bliss, however, lurks a dark secret Martin fears will tear
his family and friends away from him and destroy his career: Martin is
having an affair—an affair so shocking and forbidden that it puts
his entire life in jeopardy. Robert Thomas co-stars. By turns shocking,
funny, tragic, and heartbreaking, The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia? is a true
classic by a living legend.
Phil Speary is director and sound designer, with lighting design by Tim
Naden, set design by Jack Walker, and costume and prop design by Jane
Tanner. Jason Bailey produces.
Performances are at Twin Lakes Playhouse, located at 2038 N. Amidon. Ticket
prices are $10 for general public and $7 for seniors, students, and military.
