"Hurlyburly" by David Rabe
Directed by David Bailey
September 9, 10, 11, 17, 18, 2004- 8pm
September 19, 2004- 2pm

In David Rabe’s blistering, fast-paced, ruthlessly funny play, Eddie is a Hollywood casting agent with a great home and a happening career, but whose life is spiraling out of control. His roommate Mickey seems to have an unhealthy interest in his girlfriend Darlene; his best friend Phil is a cauldron of violence and hostility; and his buddy Artie is clearly passing him on the Hollywood food chain. Eddie’s days (and nights) become an exhausting series of altercations and conversations, all conducted through a drug-induced haze, as he attempts to maintain a connection with reality. Throughout, Rabe’s signature wit and quotable dialogue make for an unforgettable theatrical experience.

"Keely & Du" by Jane Martin
Directed by Cherice Henderson
November 11, 12, 13, 19, 20, 2004- 8pm
November 21, 2004- 2pm

From acclaimed playwright Jane Martin comes this hard-hitting, volatile play about the hot-button issue of abortion. Du, a radical right-to-life activist, keeps guard over Keely, a pregnant rape victim who has been kidnapped by Du’s militant pro-life group in order to prevent her from having an abortion. During the course of Keely's captivity, the two women first spar and argue, then transcend their immediate circumstances and differing beliefs to forge a compassionate recognition of each other's humanity—but this bond is jeopardized by the unbending beliefs of Du’s fellow captors.

"The Shape of Things" by Neil Labute
Directed by Anne Marie Serrano
February 10, 11, 12, 18, 19, 2005- 8pm
February 20, 2005- 2pm

Controversial writer Neil LaBute (In The Company of Men, Bash) tweaks our culture's moral compass in this dark comedy. Dorky museum guard Adam meets graduate student Evelyn as she's preparing to deface a classical statue; instead of stopping her, he musters up the courage to ask her out. But soon he finds himself so completely in her thrall that he willingly succumbs to her every want--and she wants him to change his hair, his clothes, his face, even his friends. As Evelyn’s intentions grow cloudier, LaBute’s witty, literate script asks some fascinating questions about the nature of love and relationships. This thought-provoking, cunningly written play will continue TOC’s favorite tradition of off-beat choices for Valentine’s Day entertainment.

"Sordid Lives" by Del Shores
Directed by Troy Dilport
April 14, 15, 16, 22, 23, 2005- 8pm
April 24, 2005- 2pm

Writer Del Shores serves up a heaping helping of Southern-fried comic melodrama in this uproarious play about infidelity, country & western music, and Airstream trailers. When their sister dies, Latrelle, LaVonda, and Sissy plan her funeral -- an unenviable task, considering that they must carefully hide the deceased's affair with amputee G.W. from his wife, the vindictive Noleta. Meanwhile, the trio has to come to terms with two cases of sexual orientation: Latrelle's openly gay soap-opera star son Ty, whose sexuality she continues to deny; and their only brother, Boy, who's serving a sentence in a mental ward for his adamant belief that he is actually country & western legend Tammy Wynette. Smart, warm, and hysterically funny.
